Professional marking solutions
Thanks to more than 25 years of mastery of stainless steel marking processes, we have optimized our laser parameters (frequency, peak power, modulation, speed, energy density) as well as our preparation and finishing protocols to guarantee perfect repeatability in series production.
We support our industrial partners in their traceability, machine identification, manufacturer plates, DataMatrix and standardized marking needs, ensuring consistent quality, even on monthly batches of several thousand parts.
Types of engraving on stainless steel
-
Laser engraving on stainless steel:
Fiber laser engraving is the solution naturally associated with metals, including 316 stainless steel.
It guarantees exceptional resistance to external elements, ensuring durable and legible marking even in extreme environments.
It is specifically used for marking manufacturer's plates on stainless steel and aluminum. -
Chemical etching on stainless steel:
Chemical etching allows for a permanent marking made deep within the material, between 0,1 and 0,2 mm deep.
with the possibility of several colours on the same plate, meeting strong resistance constraints (UV, weathering). -
Mechanical engraving on stainless steel:
Engraved metal plates, such as stainless steel, offer excellent resistance to the elements and demanding environments.
with a particularly durable embossed marking.

Comparison of stainless steel types
| Type of stainless steel | Practical |
|---|---|
| Stainless Steel AISI304 |
Laser engraving is commonly used. It allows for black, indelible, and ultra-resistant marking. Ideal for standard indoor and outdoor applications. |
| Stainless Steel AISI316 |
Fiber laser engraving is specifically recommended. The resulting indelible black marking is perfectly suited to marine, chemical and hostile environments thanks to very high corrosion resistance. |
| 316L stainless steel |
Very commonly laser engraved, with an indelible black marking identical to 316. The "L" (Low Carbon) improves welding and makes this material ideal for marine environments and outdoor applications. |
| 304L stainless steel |
Stainless steel widely used for laser engraving, offering an indelible black marking similar to 304. Suitable for indoor/outdoor applications (except in particularly aggressive marine climates). |
Compliance of our mass production
Fiber laser engraving is recommended for metals, particularly 316 stainless steel, hardened steels, aluminum, and, in some cases, brass. Laser engraving and chemical etching processes meet the compliance requirements defined by the NF EN 9132 standard.
Our production processes are configured to apply all the requirements of NF EN 9132, guaranteeing the conformity of the 2D DataMatrix code, its durability over time, and its compatibility with industrial control and traceability systems.
