Screen printing
La serigraphy is a serial printing techniqueShe is recognized for her resistance over time and the intense colors that can be obtained. On the other hand, the different processing stages: typon, screen exposure, printing, drying (and this for each color to be produced, one after the other) make it a long technique to implement. This is why it is more suited to serial reproduction of the same model with a number of limited “solid” color. However, it is possible to produce "four-color" prints for printing more complex visuals, thanks to "screen dot" processing. In these two cases, screen printing does not allow the printing of very fine details, due to its principle technical by "stencil" from which it takes its name, from Latin sericum silk (the screens for making stencils were originally made of silk) and Greek graphin writing.

Digital printing
Digital printing , on the other hand, is faster thanks to its "direct printing" principle . Furthermore, it offers great graphic freedom , allowing for the faithful reproduction of complex visuals and photographs, unique or varied designs, regardless of the number of colors automatically converted to four-color process . However, digital inks are less opaque and therefore better suited to white substrates to maintain the desired color rendering (although printing on white is now possible). Also, while there is little preparatory work, the printing time will be longer with this process. Finally, the durability of the print is less than that of other materials. Therefore, to extend its resistance, a varnish or a lamination film can be applied.
Comparison: Screen printing VS Digital printing
While both techniques have advantages and disadvantages that meet different needs, they don't have the same costs! For medium to large production runs of identical designs with a limited number of colors, screen printing is generally more suitable (with tiered pricing based on quantity) and offers better durability. Conversely, the more colors there are, the higher the price.
This is not the case with digital printing, where the cost is less affected by the number of copies and the technical possibilities are more extensive . Digital printing is therefore more advantageous for small to medium quantities, for complex, multi-colored visuals, varied designs, or for short- or medium-term branding applications.
